How To Point Domain Name [Single Domain Server]
Buying domain name is pretty easy now a days. Same with the hosting packages. If you search for domain name and hosting package purchasing you will find so many options in the internet. There is Bluehost, Godaddy, Bigrock etc. Which offers best deals in domain names and hosting packages.
Some buyers purchase hosting from Godaddy because the price they pay is much lesser than any other hosting service provider. Also they purchase domain name from some other hosting provider company, such as Bigrock offers you deal in the domain. But what if you purchased domain and hosting from different company? How you can point the domain to your purchased hosting package?
It’s very simple, just follow the steps and you can point your domain name to any server on the earth.
Step 1 : Finding Server Names
First, login to your account from where you have purchased hosting service. It might be any company. Once you logged in you need to find the hosting plan. Find and click on option named ‘Name Server Details’
As shown in the image, you will see two different name servers. Copy and paste them into the notepad and save it first.
Step 2 : Point Domain Name
Now, if you have different company or account for domain name, then login to that particular account with respective details. Once you logged in, find the domain name and it’s related services.
As shown in the image, paste those name servers which you have copied earlier into the Domain name servers. Once you did, click on ‘Update Name Servers’.
Now that you have completed the 2 step pointing domain procedure, you need to wait at least 24-48 hours to get your domain pointed to your desired server. Once it does, you can login to your cPanel account with same login details.
