Education Is Really Important For Entrepreneurs?
There might be more than 10 articles and discussion sessions about this question and yet people are not finding the correct answer which will satisfy any entrepreneur and other people.
“Is Education Really Necessary?’ this question is bouncing around since Mr. Zuckerberg founded and succeeded Facebook. In his story-line no one mentioned that he has completed his graduation. Even same with the Larry Page [Google], Bill Gates [Microsoft], Steve Jobs [Apple], Michael Dell [Dell], Richard Branson [Virgin] or Jerry Yang [Yahoo]. These are the only few names which got success in their entrepreneurship but what about those people who dropped out of college and still finding their way to the success? Obviously, there are more failed entrepreneurship stories than success stories. Are we mislead by only successful stories? Let’s find out why;
Why Education Is Ignored?
First, I would like to mention, I’m also a dropped out student and followed my entrepreneurship dream, yet..still pursuing! but so far it didn’t work out for me. When I was in college my friend group also was not into education. Why? because as our point of view it’s boring and useless in real life. At some extent that’s the truth. Even if you go to any college and ask any student about how he/she feels about education, you will get pretty much same answer.
Most of the schools on this planet educate people about the stuff which is never going to be very useful at their current job. As my own survey when I went to the International Company [Yes, I had job in International Company named Wipro, without a graduation degree], most working culture was related with reality not with the books I read in 12th grade. It was totally different. Today, at present I have some people working for me, some of them are freshers and they don’t know anything about coding. Even they are Computer Engineer graduate still don’t know what open source is. Isn’t that funny? While interviewing them I asked them, ‘What did they learn in college then?’, and at this point they went blank.
I think this might be the main reason that people trying to ignore education because most of the material we study is either useless or out of date.
Does Education Help?
Most of the startup people ask this question when it comes down to get success in life. Does education really help to achieve your goals? Most of the entrepreneurs will tell that it won’t help at all. Why? because of lack of reality! There is no such kind of education system in India where you get the real and actual experience of any job. While studying for any topic your teachers might tell you to go out and do survey but without proper knowledge of conducting survey how can one perform the survey? On what basis one can perform any task which he or she doesn’t know how to perform! So, I don’t think so that education really help to entrepreneurs and startups.
So far education in India is the biggest question itself. So many political leaders played their role towards Indian Education System but non of them have achieved a single thing thing, why? because themselves are not properly educated about handling this kind of subject!
